National Prevention Week
-
National Prevention Week (NPW) is an annual health observance dedicated to increasing public awareness and action around substance use prevention and the promotion of positive mental health. To learn more, access resources, and the observance toolkit, go to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) website.
This year NPW will take place May 11-17, 2025.
What are the main goals of NPW?
- Involve communities in raising awareness of substance use and mental health issues, implementing prevention strategies, and showcasing the effectiveness of evidence-based prevention programs;
- Foster partnerships and collaborations with federal agencies and national organizations dedicated to improving public health; and
- Promote and disseminate quality substance use prevention and mental health promotion resources and publications.
