Broward is participating in the New Worlds Reading Initiative (NWRI) and aims to have all eligible children (students identified as reading below grade level) enrolled in the program. The New Worlds Reading Initiative will deliver books to the homes of enrolled students each month from December through June, completely free of charge. The program is designed to create at-home libraries for K-5 students and foster a love for reading among students and their families. Once an elgible student is enrolled by the parent/caregiver, they will be eligible for participation until graduating from fifth grade, unless they choose to no longer participate. Enrollment opened October 11 and will run this year until December 15, 2021 with the first books shipping at the end of December. For more information to see if your child was eligible, reach out to your child's teacher or school's Literacy Coach.
