Overview

-
The Division of Student Support Initiatives & Recovery and its multi-disciplinary team of professionals provide prevention and intevention services to Pre-K - adult students and support the collaboration of schools.
Within the Division are nine departments, each specializing in particular areas of support for students and schools.
Community Connections improve access to learning experiences within the community.
Coordinated Student Health Services strives to foster growth, development, and educational achievement of our students by promoting their health and wellness in a safe supportive environment. CSHS embraces collaboration with staff, students, families and the community to achieve this goal.
School Climate & Discipline Department’s goal is to plant the seeds for a drug and violence-free future for all Broward County Public Schools students. SC&D (formerly Diversity, Prevention & Intervention) employs culturally competent family counselors, prevention specialists, and instructional facilitators to implement its vision through the provision of resources and support to our community educators, students, and families. Through collaboration and carefully planned services and programs focusing on the six strands of prevention(diversity, health & wellness, instructional strategies, substance abuse prevention, violence prevention, and academic & behavioral supports), SC&D strives to ensure the academic success of all Broward County’s students. SC&D can be reached at 754-321-1655
Equity and Diversity is designed to address persistent opportunity gaps faced by students who struggled to find success in traditional educational environments.
Expulsion Abeyance works collaboratively with schools and school leadership, District-wide, to uphold the requirements of School Board Policy, while providing windows of opportunity for students to engage within Expulsion Abeyance Intervention Programming in an effort to maintain academic engagement, access support services, increase awareness of school expectations, shape student behavior, and avoid expulsion from Broward County Public Schools.
Family and Community Engagement welcomes all students and families displaced due to recent natural disasters locally and abroad. District staff members are working with these families to ensure they receive the support and resources necessary during this transition period.
School Counseling and BRACE Advisement promote and enhance achievement with an annual comprehensive guidance plan that ensures that every student receives guidance services. Credentialed school counselors provide comprehensive counseling programs that incorporate prevention and that intervention with continuous academic, career and personal/development activities that will prepare them for meaningful participation in a diverse, changing world.
Student Services provides services to the school and community by removing barriers and promoting academic, social and emotional success for all students.
Title I, Migrant and Special Programs ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”
