Are you a teacher in Broward County or an affiliated Charter School holding a State-issued Temporary Teaching Certificate? You can earn your initial professional certificate through our alternative certification pathways.
The Alternative Certification for Educators (ACE) program, tailored specifically for full-time Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 educators, offers a two-year, competency-based, on-the-job training that focuses on the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs). This Professional Learning Certification Program (PLCP) enhances your classroom effectiveness and fulfills all professional preparation course requirements outlined in your Statement of Status of Eligibility.
Alternatively, the Broward Educator Certification (BEC) Pathway provides a more academic route in partnership with prestigious local institutions like Broward College, Florida Atlantic University, and St. Thomas University. This pathway allows you to enroll in online professional preparation college courses tailored to the needs indicated in your Statement of Status of Eligibility, ensuring a personalized and focused educational journey.
Both the ACE Program and BEC Pathway require successful completion of the Florida Teacher Certification Exams (FTCE), equipping you with essential career skills and educational expertise to enhance your teaching capabilities and prepare you for the educational environment. Contact the Department of Teacher Development & Support to take advantage of these innovative pathways and advance your teaching career.
Let us help you achieve excellence in teaching and make a lasting impact in the classroom. For more details, contact Pamela R. Voss, Teacher Development & Support Supervisor/PLCP Coordinator, at alternativecertification@browardschools.com.
