Flamingo Gardens is a non-profit botanical garden and Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary located in Davie, Florida. It was first established in 1927 as Flamingo Groves and is one of the oldest botanical gardens in South Florida. The 60-acre botanical garden is a showcase for more than 3000 species of rare and exotic, tropical, subtropical, and native plants. Flamingo Gardens Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary gives residence to permanently injured and non-releasable birds and animals including alligators, bobcats, North American river otters and Josh the Bear. It is home to over 90 native species making it the largest collection of Florida native wildlife in the state. The property is now listed as a Broward Cultural Heritage Landmark and the Wray Home is a registered Historical Landmark with the state of Florida and a museum giving visitors a glimpse of life in the 1930s.
Flamingo Gardens offers students a unique opportunity to learn about the Everglades, the environment and local history by exploring its Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary which includes mammals and reptiles, birds of prey, and a free-flight aviary, its pollinator garden and Education and Research Butterfly Rearing House, its arboretum, historical Wray Home, narrated tram tours through its wetlands, and Wildlife Encounter Shows featuring its animal ambassadors.

Flamingo Gardens’ mission is to depict, preserve, and provide education about the natural and cultural heritage of South Florida and the Everglades through our botanical gardens and wildlife sanctuary.
