Students must be 15 years of age on or before the first class of the session, live in Broward County, and attend a school in Broward County. You must be a current student. If you graduate or withdraw from high school, you are no longer eligible to take Driver’s Education. 

School Locations - Boyd Anderson HS, Coral Glades HS, Coral Springs HS, Cypress Bay HS, Deerfield Beach HS, Everglades HS, Flanagan HS, McArthur HS, Northeast HS, Plantation HS and Pompano Beach HS.

Driver’s Ed registration is done through the registration link on the main page. 

All Public, Charter, and Private School students will use the same link to register this year.

How to register?:

1. Go to the Driver's Education homepage and click on the registration link under the yellow box.
2. Fill out the Microsoft form with the applicant’s (student) information.
3. Please note, ONLY 1 APPLICATION PER STUDENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. All duplicates will be deleted.
4. Driver’s Education will process the applications. This usually takes 7 days. Once rosters are finalized, all applicants will receive an e-mail from the Driver’s Education administrator as to the results of the lottery.

No, the registration dates are designed to give everyone access to Driver’s Education at the same time as to make it as fair as possible. It is recommended that you register as close to the date and time as possible. If you have problems during registration, please call 754-321-1871 for help.

Students should arrive for the first day of Driver’s Education with a folder and something to write with. They will receive a study guide and a syllabus on the first day. The BCPS dress code is enforced just like a regular class with the exception of footwear. No flip flops or sandals are permitted for Driver’s Ed. Students who have their restricted license should bring it to every class. You can not drive on the road without it.

On the first day of class, students should report to the Driver’s Ed Range. Instructors will be outside in bright Driver's Ed Instructor shirts directing students to the classroom. 

Driver's Ed Ranges are located as follows:

Boyd Anderson HS - West side of campus, south of the baseball field.

Coral Glades HS - South side of campus.

Coral Springs HS - Northwest side of campus.

Cypress Bay HS - Southwest side of campus.

Deerfield Beach HS - Northeast side of campus.

Everglades HS - Southwest side of campus.

Flanagan HS -  Northwest side of campus.

McArthur HS - North side of campus between the pool and the baseball field.

Northeast HS - Southwest side of campus. (Closed Summer 2024)

Plantation HS - West side of campus in front of the auditorium.

Pompano Beach HS - Northeast side of campus on NE 6^th St by tennis courts.

Sometimes students sign up for class, but they do not show up or withdraw. It is possible for a student who was not able to get registered to take the place of one of these students. To do this, you will need to go to the high school on the first day of class and ask the instructor if there are any "no-shows". This can be done for the first two days of class, but there is a chance that every student will show up in the class. If spots do not open by the second week, then you will, unfortunately, have to wait until the next session.

No. A Restricted License (learner's permit) is recommended but not required. Students who do not have a restricted license can only participate in the classroom and drive on our driving range in a controlled environment. Students who have their restricted license will be able to go out on the road with one of our certified instructors as well as participate in the classroom and driving range.  Students who have a permit for one calendar year or who have a permit and are at least 18 years of age before the last day of class are eligible to take the road test at the DMV.  

There is no fee to take Driver’s Ed in Broward County.

No. Driver’s Education does not meet the minimum requirement to earn a half-credit class. 

Yes. You may take Driver's Ed as many times as you like.  Students are still responsible for all aspects of the course and may not come in for the driving portion only.   You simply register for the course again. 

Yes, as long as you have your permit for one year or have your permit and are at least 18 before the last day of class, you can take your road test with one of our DMV certified testers.

Students are permitted to miss one class of Driver’s Education, EXCEPT the first day of class. If the student misses the first day of class or misses 2 classes, they are automatically dropped from the class with no penalty. They may re-register for the next session. There are no exceptions to this rule. 

No. Broward County Public Schools Driver’s Ed is in no way affiliated with any online driving program or any private driving school. Our class puts students behind the wheel of cars. A student may take our class after taking the online version. A student who takes BCPS Driver’s Ed is still responsible for all components of the class including but not limited to attendance and classroom requirements.

After successful completion of the Driver’s Education course, students may go to the DMV for their license if they passed the test. The DMV has a paperless system and students are entered into the third-party waiver system. If you have any problems at the DMV, please ask to speak with a supervisor and tell them you are entered into the third-party waiver system. If you still have problems, you must contact your test administrator via email. Students are provided with contact information from their test administrator on the last day of class or click  Trouble at the DMV and scroll down the page for information.

Some insurance companies offer a discount and some do not. Please check with your insurance company. If you lose your certificate, follow the instructions on the main page of the website to print another one.
