Physical Plant Operations Zone 2 (PPO Zone 2/ Central Area Maintenance) - provides maintenance and capital support to 90 schools, educational centers and administrative complexes in Central Broward County.

The Zone falls under the responsibility and supervision of an Area Trades Manager who is supported by an Area Supervisor, six trades foremen, and five Administrative support staff. PPO Zone 2 is composed of two shifts with approximately 90 journeymen assigned to various trade positions including glaziers, air-conditioning/refrigeration, carpentry, electrical, electronic notification, fire extinguishers, exhaust fans, plumbing, painting, masonry, cafeteria equipment, general maintenance workers and laborers. The zone extinguisher lead person maintains the contract and liaison work with the fire extinguisher vendor for inspection and re-certification.

The Evening Shift with its air conditioning/refrigeration, plumbing, electricians and general maintenance workers are responsible for projects that can only be completed during non-school hours. Additionally, this Evening Shift is responsible for all emergencies that may occur during the evening hours.

PPO Zone 2 completes an average of 17,000 work orders each school year. The zone has a work order call center along with support service staff co-located within the PPO Zone 2 facility. Included in their areas of support to the Zone are: work order generation, work order close outs, material procurement from vendors and contractors. Additionally, materials and logistics staff provide each trade section with Purchasing and Warehouse support, which consists of ordering and receiving materials, accounting for and then redistributing the material to each section.
