Working Together To Keep Our Schools Safe
The Broward County Public Schools Police is the law enforcement and investigative agency for Broward County Public Schools (BCPS). Broward County Public Schools Police (BCPS Police) is primarily responsible for conducting criminal and administrative investigations involving the over 32,000 BCPS employees. The criminal investigations often focus on fraud, theft, embezzlement and other serious violations affecting the internal operations of the school district. The administrative investigations involve the professional practices and standards for instructional and non-instructional employees ensuring adherence to state laws and school district policies.
In addition to the investigations, BCPS Police supports district-wide safety and security training, emergency and incident response and many other law enforcement and public safety services. BCPS Police oversees and coordinates the operations and contracts with numerous county law enforcement agencies that provide school resource officers to our school locations. BCPS Police functions as a conduit between the various BCPS departments and schools and federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and other first responders.
Other areas of responsibility include the security clearance of employees, vendors and volunteers to ensure they adhere to federal and state laws to access school locations and work around students and staff; alarm monitoring; 24 hour communications and guard services.
BCPS Police is the internal law enforcement agency for BCPS that provides diverse and valuable services to the school district and its many community partners.
