Job Summary
Substitute teachers help maintain our students' academic progress by facilitating lesson plans during a teacher's absence. The perspective substitute teacher assumes the responsibilities of the classroom teacher for the school day by maintaining a consistent volume of high quality instruction with accuracy and professionalism. Substitute teachers can customize their work schedules by choosing the number of days, school locations, grade levels and types of schools. Substitute teachers can be available for as many or as few assignments as they want. There is no guarantee of work since the nature of substituting is based on the number of daily teacher absences. Generally, individual substitutes teach not only for the flexibility in scheduling but to gain valuable experience in the classroom, as well as the opportunity to network with teachers, administrators and other school staff.

Transcripts showing at least 24 earned college credits from an accredited institution.

There is an exception to the minimum college credits requirement for military personnel who are either actively serving or have completed at least a two-year enlistment.

We are excited to announce a change that will enhance the Substitute Teacher experience at Broward County Public Schools. On March 15, 2022, The School Board of Broward County approved the District transitioning the management/employment of daily substitute teachers to Kelly Education effective with the 2022-23 school year.
Thanks to this new partnership, you will receive amazing benefits such as:
- Weekly pay instead of bi-weekly pay
- Referral program: employees who refer friends and family to become a substitute teacher are eligible for a $100 referral bonus. There is no limit to the number of referrals you can make. Information will be provided when you transition to Kelly Education.
- Performance Incentives: earning bonuses for hard-to-fill days and hard-to-fill locations.
- Monetary performance-based rewards and raffles, etc.
- Recognition programs: Substitute of the Month and Substitute of the Year
Kelly Education staff will be available via phone and/or in-person to assist you with becoming a Kelly Education employee. To get started, you must complete the substitute teacher interest form at www.teachbrowardkids.com or call 754-732-3644. Representatives are available 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST. Twenty-four (24) hours after you complete the form (or call), a Kelly Education representative will contact you to walk you through the next steps.

Application Procedures for Classroom Monitor
Job Summary:
Classroom Monitors creates and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and to provide positive educational experiences for all students.
Qualifications:
Education – Earned sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited institution. Bachelor's degree preferred. Approved Broward County Public Schools Substitute Teacher.
Hourly Rate: $15.00
Application Procedure:- Transcript from an accredited college showing at least 60 semester hours of completed course work
- Two (2) letters of references. References must be signed and dated. One reference must be from the candidate’s last employer or cooperating teacher (for education graduates). Each reference should be scanned separately and individually uploaded
- Upload Sub Diploma certificate for the STEDI SubSkills Online Training Course (Optional)
- The STEDI SubSkills Online Training Course This course will provide you with valuable knowledge, skills, and materials that will empower you to be successful in the classroom. (ONLY exempt candidates: 2021-2022 cleared Broward Public Schools Substitute or a Transition Kelly Substitute.)
- There is a cost associated with this training of $39.95 and will be the responsibility of the applicant. This cost will not be reimbursed by Broward County Public Schools.
- This training will cover: Classroom management; teaching strategies; special education and other information you’ll need to know to become a stellar substitute teacher, from legal aspects of the job to how to handle confrontational behavior from students.

Application Procedures for Interim Substitute Teachers
Job Summary:
Interim Substitute Teachers maintain our students' academic progress by facilitating lesson plans during a teacher's short-term leave of absence. The interim substitute teacher assumes all of the responsibilities of the classroom teacher for the duration of the assignment. Interim Substitute Teachers must maintain a consistent volume of high quality instruction with accuracy and professionalism.
Qualifications:
Must be approved as a substitute teacher with Broward County Public Schools.
Florida Educator Certification in the subject area of the vacancy is preferred.
Hourly Rate: Bachelor's or higher = $32.31; 60 credit hours = $20.00
