Speech Language Pathologists

  • Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) are an integral part of the school community. As team members they participate in comprehensive problem solving and response to intervention processes. SLPs assess students’ communication skills, analyze the results of comprehensive assessments, and develop and implement individualized education plans. SLPs collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals. Broward County Public Schools’ school-based management allows candidates the flexibility to apply to specific schools of interest. Supplements are available above the salary scale for a master’s degree, Certificate of Clinical Competence, and SLP critical shortage area. Support is inherent at the school level with opportunities to interact with other school-based SLPs through zone meetings and from Speech-Language Program Specialists. Opportunities for Professional Development and recertification are plentiful. SLPs should hold a master’s degree and be certified by the State of Florida’s Department of Health and/or Department of Education.
