Rebecca Thompson was elected to the Broward County School Board in November 2024 to represent District 2. With over a decade of experience in community social work and a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, she is the first social worker on the School Board. She has worked in various settings, including as a school social worker for Broward County schools, a residential counselor at a teen shelter, and Program Director for a parenting program.

Ms. Thompson is a mom to three young Broward students and a resident of Pembroke Pines. She is dedicated to improving the district's mental health system, supporting schools, and strives to provide A rated services to students and families. She will continue to be a strong voice for District 2 while serving as a Board Member.
She also serves as the School Board representative for the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, Broward County Value Adjustment Board, Take Stock in Children, Broward County Coordinating Board of Transportation Disadvantaged Services and an alternate for the Climate Change Task Force.
