  • Application Complete

    Applications with this status are complete and ready for processing.  No further action is required, unless you are requesting military or BCPS employee priority.  Please check your email for required documents requests.  Email all supporting documents to SchoolChoice@browardschools.com before the application deadline to avoid any processing delays.

    Follow these steps based on when you applied:

    Applied During the Open Enrollment Application Window

    • If the Enrollment Application Window is open  – make your changes from the application status form.

    • If the Enrollment Application Window is closed  – submit a new application during the late application window (both submitted applications will be considered during the selection process).

    Applied During the Late Application Window

    During the late application window, complete the application change request form to make changes.

    We will update your application and send you a confirmation email before the next selection process.

  • Application Incomplete

    Applications with this status are incomplete Magnet applications that are missing required documents – grades or test scores.

    Send us your required documents

    Email grades & test scores to SchoolChoice@browardschools.com and include:

    • Application number
    • Student's BCPS number
    • Student's full name (first & last name)

    If you meet the minimum academic requirements, your application will be updated on the application status form and considered during the next notification date.

    Missing grades or test scores and need your eligibility reviewed?

    Have the school Magnet Coordinator review your eligibility if you're missing grades or test scores.

    Complete the Magnet Panel Review Form and the school Magnet Coordinator will contact you to schedule a time to meet.

    If you meet the minimum academic requirements, your application will be updated on the application status form and considered during the next notification date.

  • Awarded

    You must claim & register an awarded seat by the claim & register deadline or the seat will be lost.

    Follow these steps to claim & register an awarded seat:

      Claim & Register At The School

      To claim & register, call or visit the school to register the student by the deadline – the school will claim the awarded seat during the registration process.

      Bring your award letter as proof.

      Please work with the school to provide all required forms necessary for registration, such as emergency contact information and school records, before the first day of school.

      Confirm Claim & Registration Status

      After registering at the school, confirm your claim & registration status from the application status form. Ensure the Claimed Awarded Seat status shows Claimed and the Registered School Name shows the correct school name. If incorrect, immediately contact the school by the deadline to fix the issue.

    Trouble claiming your awarded seat on the website?

    Try one of these methods to fix the issue:

    • Disable your browser's pop-up blocker
    • Have the school claim your seat during the registration process – bring your award letter as proof

    Missed the claim & register deadline?

    If your seat was lost because you missed the claim and register deadline, you may request to be put in the wait-pool to be reconsidered during the next selection, if more seats become available.

    Email your wait-pool request to schoolchoice@browardschools.com and include the following:

    • Application number
    • Student's BCPS number
    • Student's full name (first & last name)

  • Not Selected - Waitpool

    Applying for School Choice does not guarantee a student a seat at the requested school

    Because schools have limited or no seats for students who live outside the school boundary area, there is no guarantee that every applicant will be awarded. When there are more applicants than available seats at a school, a random computerized selection (lottery) determines which applicants are awarded.

    Applications with this status were not selected during the random computerized selection process and have been put in a wait-pool, pending more seats and future selections.

    If more seats become available at the requested school, all wait-pool applicants (starting with Phase 1, then Phase 2) will be considered during a future random computerized selection.

  • No Seats

    Applications with this status do not have a seat at the requested school, because the school does not have the necessary services to accommodate the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) at the time the application was processed.

    IEPs and related school services are evaluated by the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) department.

  • Denied Academic

    Applications with this status did not meet the minimum academic requirements for the requested Magnet program and were not considered during the random computerized selection process (lottery).

    Magnet programs and academic criteria are determined by the Applied Learning department. School Magnet Coordinators use this criteria to determine if an applicant is eligible for the requested program and can be considered for a seat at the school.

    Please direct your Magnet program and academic requirement questions to the school Magnet Coordinator or the Applied Learning department:

    Need to update your grades or test scores?

    Email us your updated grades and test scores and we'll give them to the school Magnet Coordinator for review  – allow 1 week for processing.
