The Opportunity

  • CIA Logo   The Collaborative Internship for All (CIA) is a new initiative of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) to help expand the pipeline of high-quality, trained providers to help address the shortage of mental health service professionals in schools. This initiative embraces a multifaceted approach to foster broad exposure to the individualized and collaborative work of multiple mental health-related disciplines within the District, such as School Social Work, School Counseling, School Psychology, Family Counseling, and Employee Assistance Program. This initiative was made possible through the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant Program. This is an exceptional internship program for students with the goal of becoming school-based mental health professionals.

Requirements

  • Students must be in their last year or concentration year of their masters in order to apply.  Selected interns will complete required field work, credit hours, internships or related trainings as applicable for the degree or their respective credentialing program. The CIA internship requires 710 hours, which include the required hours for practicum/internship of the respective program. Selected students will complete an interdisciplinary, school based mental health certification program to be administered by the school district.  Students/interns who wish to apply for this program will complete an application, including statement of their interest in mental health within the school setting, and participate in a panel interview prior to acceptance into this program. For more information, contact your campus practicum field advisor.
