The Expulsion Abeyance Office exists within the Division of Student Support Initiatives. The Expulsion Abeyance Office works collaboratively with schools and school leadership, District-wide, to uphold the requirements of School Board Policy, while providing windows of opportunity for students to engage within Expulsion Abeyance Intervention Programming in an effort to maintain academic engagement, access support services, increase awareness of school expectations, shape student behavior, and avoid expulsion from Broward County Public Schools.
Per School Board Policy, Expulsion Abeyance Intervention Programming is inclusive of opportunity for students to engage within Substance Probationary Contracts and Alternative Probationary Contracts, as well as Expulsion Abeyance and Behavior Intervention assignment within District intervention schools. The Expulsion Abeyance Office serves as a resource to students, families, and their representatives, District-wide.
