    HHHS Earns Academic Recognitions From Vocabulary.com 

    Every month, thousands of schools across the US and Canada compete in the Vocabulary Bowl, a an academic development program sponsored by  Vocabulary.com.  The September 2017 results of the Vocabulary Bowl were recently published and Hollywood Hills High School earned the following achievements: 

    • North American Top Ten School
    • Florida State Champion

    FL Top Ten School Vocab Award Vocabulary.com is a word focused language and reading experience centered on words and word definitions.  The online program, which landed a spot on Time magazine's 2012 list of best websites; reinforces thinking, reasoning, deduction, and information application skills to achieve self-directed learning goals.  The program is much more than a standard dictionary website.  Sure, word definitions can be looked up, but the program also offers a significant number of word games for users to test their comprehension.  Many terms are commonly used in academic and business environments, but the site also works to identify terms the user-student may not be familiar with.  In fact, the word-focused program provides a uniquely customized experience centered on words and word definitions to reinforce progressive language learning and reasoning skills.  

    HHHS Earns Placement on “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” 2016 List

    WP Most Challenging Schools Congratulations to Hollywood Hills High School for earning placement on “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” 2016 list by The Washington Post. Hollywood Hills High ranks among the top 10% nationally and 351st in the state, due to our school's success on providing access to advanced coursework to all students.

    Hollywood Hills earned placement on “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” list of nearly 2,300, which annually evaluates all 23,000 U.S. public high schools based on the number of graduating seniors taking Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Cambridge tests before graduation.

    The list evaluates schools on how widely they provide access to Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced International Certificate of Education classes (AICE). “America's Most Challenging High Schools” ranks schools through an index formula that's a ratio of the number of AP, IB and AICE tests given at a school each year, divided by the number of seniors who graduated that year.

     

    Hollywood Hills High School is Named One of the Nation's Best High Schools!

    US News Best High Schools According to U.S. News & World Report, Hollywood Hills High School is one of the nation’s best high schools. Hollywood Hills made the U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 Best High Schools national rankings, and earned a silver medal.

    Best High Schools rankings evaluate data on more than 21,500 public high schools to identify which schools are best at preparing students for college and careers. U.S. News recognizes high schools with gold, silver and bronze medals. 

    Hills was ranked among the nation's top 10% and among Florida's top 13%. 

     

    Hollywood Hill High School Receives Golden School Award

    Golden School Award Hollywood Hills High School has received the prestigious Golden School Award!

    Hollywood Hills High School actively involves parents and community members.  Parents regularly provide support to the school as volunteers in the classroom, library, enrichment activities, and special events. They also serve as chaperones, and special event planners.  The school's well-organized booster clubs provide resources that are unable to be funded through regular school funding, including field trips, support for our clubs and student organizations, and funding for special events.

    In addition, nearly 100 percent of parents attend Parent-Teacher Conferences, and parents are actively involved in fund-raising to support the school's goals.

    The Golden School Award is given annually by the Florida Department of Education to recognize public schools with exemplary volunteer programs. Hours donated in all forms of volunteering, i.e. mentors, tutors, advisors and advocates, are to be included.  A Golden School must meet the following criteria:

    • A staff training program on volunteerism in which a minimum of 80% of the school staff have participated during the school year.
    • A School Volunteer Coordinator who has been designated to provide leadership for the school volunteer program through recruitment, placement, training and supervision of participants.
    • A total number of hours in volunteer service that equals twice the number of students enrolled in the school. These hours of volunteer service will be in the areas that support instruction.
