If you need to report something you can do so ANONYMOUSLY! No one will ever be able to know where the report originated. We need you to help keep our schools and our children safe, so if there is something going on that needs to be reported please report it.

The text messaging service, TipSoft, allows a response by text message to the originating cell phone without ever knowing the identity of the individual who left the tip. The user’s information is always given an alias and a unique ID before being sent. This secure application allows the tipster and the investigator to have two-way dialog while always keeping the user’s identity completely anonymous.

The School Board of Broward County encourages students to report information about any non-urgent illegal activity, such as vandalism, theft, the sale, and distribution of drugs or information about crimes that are being planned.

Report an Absence Online

According to SBBC Policy 5.5: All students under 16 are required to attend school every day of the 180-day school year. Absences are established by tardiness, early sign-outs, or absences for all or part of any day. The maximum number of acceptable absences is 5 days. Additionally, please note that students may not be released after 1:45 p.m.

1. Parents have 2 days (48 hours) in which to report an absence.
2. The Attendance Policy allows eight (8) reasons for absence to be excused.

Arrival

Students must arrive at school on time every day. The first bell rings at 7:32 AM. Students should be in class by the second bell at 7:40 AM.

Tardy

Students arriving after 7:40 AM will be considered TARDY. If students arrive after 7:40 AM, the student will need to obtain a pass from the front office to be admitted to class. It's about responsibility!

The most crucial learning hours of a school day are the morning hours because they are when students are most attentive. Students who are tardy miss the beginning of their morning classes, and they also cause a distraction when they arrive late to class.

Academics and Achievement

Students who are frequently tardy have lower GPAs, lower scores on standardized assessments, and lower graduation rates. Chronic tardiness in elementary and middle school is also linked to failure in high school.

Behavior Problems

In the National Center for Education Statistics 2007 Indicators of School Crime and Safety, teachers surveyed reported that frequently tardy students have higher rates of suspension and other disciplinary measures. Tardiness causes students to feel disconnected from school, leading to behavior problems and dropouts.

Job Performance

Students who are frequently tardy to school are also more apt to be fired from a job for showing up late.

Teachers are often required to allow tardy students to make up work, which often requires them to restructure their lessons or reteach missed material. Dismissal

The dismissal time is 2:00 PM. All students are expected to remain in school for the entire school day. If students are dismissed early, they must be picked up by 1:10 PM. No students will be dismissed 30 minutes before the last bell for safety reasons.

Possession of a wireless communication device that disrupts the educational process is a violation. Cellular phones, camera phones, and pagers are prohibited at all times during class unless specifically instructed to do so as part of the lesson.

All Broward County Public Schools conduct regular exercises and drills at various times as outlined in the Florida Fire Code and Florida Administrative Code.

To aid in this process, every school has a designated SAFE team comprised of faculty and staff who have been specially trained on appropriate procedures to ensure every school follows safety protocol.

Discussion-based tabletop exercises are also conducted regularly with staff, faculty, and community partners, and the results of these exercises are documented and incorporated into school safety plans as necessary.  

All public schools are required to conduct one (1) fire drill per month with one (1) additional occurring within the first 30 days. Additionally, public schools are required to conduct, at a minimum, six (6) emergency drills every school year that are nonconcurrent with fire drills. One emergency drill must take place within the first ten (10) days of the beginning of the school year, and the remaining drills may not occur more than forty-five (45) days apart. Four (4) of the six (6) emergency drills must address active threats. The remaining two (2) drills must address other emergency events, such as severe weather, natural disasters, hazardous materials incidents, or reunification.

Students are expected to fully participate in drills and follow the directions of faculty and staff.

All visitors including parents must check into the attendance office prior to going to any classrooms or any area on campus. An official photo identification (ID) is required. Acceptable forms of ID include the following:

• Driver’s license
• Florida’s official state identification card
• Passport

Visitor Parking

All visitors must park in the designated visitor parking spaces. Please do not park in spaces designated for faculty and staff or in the bus loop. 

Student Parking

Students must have a decal to park in the student parking areas. 

Please do not leave valuables in your car.

Controlling School Traffic is Essential for School Safety

Here are the campus protocols for morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up, and parking. Following these guidelines will make for the most efficient traffic flow possible for all.

Drop-Off

The general window of time to drop your student(s) off at school is 7:00 am-7:30 am.

Student drop-off is permitted only through the east entrance of the Hollywood Hills High School campus.

Between 7:00 am and 7:30 am, the drop-off zone will be staffed with faculty and security personnel who will be available to assist and supervise your students. 

The Faculty & Staff parking lot located on the west side of the campus is for bus access and faculty and staff use only. Please do not drop off or pick up your student(s) in that parking lot.

Visitor and parent parking is located on the north side of the campus. 

Student cars entering campus to park in the student parking lot should use the east driveway.

For your safety, we ask that you not permit students to exit your vehicle on Stirling Road. 

Hollywood Hills High School urges all families to plan to arrive a little early during the first few weeks of school to get used to the traffic pattern and avoid delays.  Students are expected to be in class when the bell rings at 7:30 am.

Pick-Up

The general window of time to pick up your student(s) from school is 2:40 pm - 3:10 pm. School ends at 2:40 pm each day and students need a few moments to gather their belongings and walk to the pick-up area.

Student pick-up is permitted only through the east entrance of the Hollywood Hills High School campus.

Between 2:40 pm and 3:10 pm the pick-up zone will be staffed with faculty and security personnel who will focus on the safety and security of students.  This time of day can be hectic.  Please be keenly aware of your surroundings while waiting for your student(s). 

Please do not park along Sarazen Drive to pick up your student(s)--even if you have business to attend to on campus. Visitor and parent parking is located on the north side of the campus. 

The west parking lot (Bus Entrance) is for bus access and faculty and staff use only.  Please do not drop off or pick up your student(s) in that parking lot.

The School advises parents wishing to avoid afternoon traffic congestion to arrive early to pick up your student(s).

Please do not pick up your student on Sarazen Drive. 

Students should be picked up and dropped off at the car loop only.
