Greetings Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
I look forward to support our students, families and staff as we embark on a new journey into the 24-25 school year. I am extremely privileged to serve this amazing community that has treated our school with such grace. I encourage each family to remain actively involved in your student's academic, social, emotional growth and development.
Be a part of the community voice by attending our monthly School Advisory Committee (SAC) and PTSA meetings which are held monthly in the school's media center. This is a prime opportunity to support the students and be a helping hand to support the Sunrise Middle community. Communication is an essential part of knowing how your child is performing at school. I encourage you to request parent conferences with your child's teachers, which are held every available Monday and Wednesday beginning at 8:20am. To schedule, please contact (754) 322-4700 and one of our clerks will be able to assist with scheduling a conference.
In my educational experiences in South Korea, Miami and in Broward County, I hope to continue the effort here at Sunrise Middle that fosters a safe and equitable place to learn and excel. In this community, like many around Broward County, valuing diversity and the power of community building is essential to enriching schools and I will strive to use the knowledge I have attained to put our students and community first. I am committed to providing a place that challenges students to their highest potential and that prepares them for the future.
I look forward to a successful remainder of the year and if you have any questions and/or concerns, I encourage you to contact the school at (754) 322-4700.
Sincerely,
Jay R. Sohn

Greetings Falcon Family,
Welcome back to Sunrise Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year! As your 8th Grade Assistant Principal, I am excited to embark on another enriching year with you. It is a true honor to help shape your students' futures and ensure they receive the best education in a nurturing and innovative environment.
At Sunrise Middle School, we are committed to preparing our students not only for academic success but also for a well-rounded future. Our curriculum, aligned with Florida's Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards, is designed to foster critical thinking, creativity, and real-world problem-solving. This year, we are enhancing our focus on educating the whole child. We believe in supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development to help them thrive both in and out of the classroom. We are incorporating strategies that emphasize emotional intelligence, resilience, and well-being. By integrating these elements into our educational approach, we aim to create a balanced and supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. Our goal is to prepare students not just for academic achievement, but for lifelong success and fulfillment.
Nelson Mandela’s inspiring words, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world," guide my mission. I am dedicated to harnessing the power of education to unlock opportunities and drive positive change in our students' lives and in the world.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!
Warm regards,
Analisa Austin
