Arts

  • Male student and female teacher enjoy painting in a classroom Supporting young people in creative learning and artistic endeavors engages and enriches them in all aspects of their lives. The presence of the arts and artists is important to us. Art classes at IRMS include Beginning Art, Art II, 3D Art, and Creative Arts.

Communications

  • Five middle school students using different devices for multimedia Our Communications courses are designed to introduce students to digital media and provide hands-on experience with industry software. This program gives students a foundation for design and production. These courses include Media Careers, Journalism, TV Production, Yearbook, and Digital Tools.

PE & Yoga

    Physical education emphasizes fundamental locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative skills through movement education, educational games, sports, and teambuilding. Our program at IRMS includes semester or full-year PE classes and Yoga. 

Culinary

  • Middle school students in a kitchen preparing food Our Culinary Arts course provides an opportunity for students to learn the fundamentals of nutrition and the art of cooking. Our hands-on approach  is fun for students as they prepare delicious, healthy meals. Culinary can be taken in all grade levels and on a semester or full year basis.

Music

  • Middle school students performing using musical instruments Our music courses are comprised of all student experience levels who enjoy performing music together. Our program teaches students about the fundamentals of music appreciation.  The band program at IRMS includes Beginning Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Honors Band. 

Forensics

    Students in the IRMS Forensics program learn research, logic, organization of ideas, manipulation of language, assessment of audience, self-esteem, and engagement in world events. Classes include 7th Grade Speech I, 8th Grade Debate, and Law Studies. 

  • Additional electives at the Ridge for the 2024-2025 school year include Financial Literacy, Fundamentals of Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Peer Counseling.
