Urban Teacher Academy Program (UTAP)

  • Stranahan High School's School of Education trains students to be innovative teachers and social justice leaders of tomorrow through the Urban Teaching Academy Program (UTAP). UTAP provides a rigorous curriculum and extensive field experience to prepare highly qualified candidates to enter the teaching profession in Broward County urban schools. Students are given “hands-on” opportunities to teach elementary or middle school students under the leadership of experienced teachers. Moreover, our students have an opportunity for scholarships and future employment with Broward County Public Schools.

The Stranahan High School Urban Teacher Academy Program is designed to help students identify pathways to become future educators. Students engage in internships at local Elementary and Middle schools and participate in several rotations at Stranahan High School with teachers and school administrators.
