BCPS Honors Anniversary of September 11 Attacks with Memorial Ceremonies
WHO:
Broward County Public School (BCPS) Superintendent; District Leadership; High School Students, Teachers, Staff and Administrators; Local Elected Officials; Community Members; and First Responders
WHAT:
Memorial ceremonies recognizing the heroic men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, are being held across the District.
At Cooper City High School, the Navy JROTC is hosting a commemoration that includes a wreath presentation, guest speakers and Taps performed by the school’s Sound of Pride band. This event will be attended by BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn, local elected officials, city leaders and first responders.
In addition, Western High School is hosting its annual We Will Never Forget Memorial Ceremony. The event includes a student-constructed memorial that replicates the Twin Towers, surrounded by the Pentagon, with a flagpole placed in the outline of the state of Pennsylvania. Students, District leaders, local elected officials, city leaders and first responders will be in attendance.
