Greetings Gator Community!
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! It is a privilege to introduce myself as the new principal of Henry D. Perry Education Center. I look forward to “Shooting for Greatness” with all of you!
As your new principal, I’d like to share a little about myself. I was born and raised in North Carolina – yes, you’ll frequently hear the accent 😉. I decided to leave for warmer weather, settling in Orlando before making my way to South Florida. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.
In 2014, I began teaching math at Hallandale Adult Community Center, now known as Henry D. Perry Education Center, after teaching high school math in Orlando for 10 years. After two years in the classroom, I became a behavior specialist, spending two years in this role before becoming an assistant principal and intern principal. I truly love what I do, and I am devoted to the students we serve at Henry D. Perry Education Center – we pride ourselves in being a school of second chances!
The goal of our faculty and staff is to assist and support students with credit recovery so they can reach their goal of high school graduation. We work to individualize our instruction thus meeting the needs of each learner. We remain focused on providing acceleration options for students through industry certifications and dual enrollment courses. Success in these programs will provide immediate employment options, or students can choose to continue their education in a post-secondary institution. I will work tirelessly to ensure we are motivating students to reach their greatest potential. I want Henry D. Perry Education Center to be THE school you choose, not a school chosen for you.I look forward to welcoming all our students on August 21st, and I’m excited to meet our families at our upcoming Principal Meet & Greet (Tuesday, August 15th; 6:00pm-7:00pm) and our 2023-2024 Open House (Tuesday, September 12th; 6:00pm-7:30pm). Together, we will achieve greatness!
Sincerely,
Kristin Baltazar, Principal
