Over the years, the Cypress Bay Band Program has been extraordinarily successful. Performing ensembles have been invited to highly recognized state and national events!
The Marching Band has received high scores at FBA (district assessment) and FMBC (regional) competitions.
For the 2021-22 school year, the program was recognized with the Otto J. Kraushaar Award, given to those bands in the state that have earned straight superior ratings at all Florida Band Association events during a single school year, including marching, district concert, and state concert competitions!!!

Mr. Dawson took responsibility for the Cypress Bay High School band program in the summer of 2020 (https://ourcitymedia.com/2020/09/22/cypress-bay-welcomes-new-band-director/). His experience as a professional jazz trombonist and 20 years as the former Director of Bands at Coral Springs High School helped him keep students engaged despite the challenges of teaching in a virtual environment during the 2020-21 school year.
For the Marching Season and throughout the school year, thanks to his extended professional network, Mr Dawson also brings highly qualified and dedicated clinicians and coaches to work with all his students

Volunteer/Fingerprints
-
Getting Involved as A Volunteer is important to the band program. Level 1 Clearance (Local Trips, School Events, etc.). Level 2 Clearance (Overnight Trips, Out of Tri-County Trips)
Information will be updated the week before school. This involves going to the KCW Building in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale to get fingerprinted. Please be patient as there is a meeting the week before school in which the guidelines for this will be covered and the information will be updated at that time.
