IB Philosophy
LLMS is proud to be recognized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. We offer the International Baccalaureate the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Grades 6-8. IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision.
The IB is a highly respected programme of international education. It is our vision to prepare students to compete in tomorrow’s global market.
At LLMS-IB, students “learn how to learn” through approaches to learning (ATL) skills infused in the IB programmes. They can take responsibility for their own educational progress and are encouraged to try different approaches to learning.
Our IB programmes help IB students:
- Ask challenging questions
- Think critically
- Develop research skills proven to help them in higher education
We encourage IB students to be active in their communities and to take their learning beyond academic study.
The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.
Lauderdale Lakes Middle School administration, faculty, and staff are committed to ensuring that our students are academically challenged. We believe that every child deserves a 21st-century education and by meeting the needs of this generation, students are given a better chance in our ever-growing global economy.
