BCPS Students Using Computer Science to Change the World. Superintendent Codes with Students at Nova High School for Computer Science Education Week and the Hour of Code.
December 6, 2019
The countdown is on for the start of Computer Science Education Week and Hour of Code! The annual global movement, which takes place December 9 –15, 2019, raises awareness about the importance of expanding computer science in schools and inspires students to complete at least one hour of computer coding during the weeklong celebration. This year’s theme is #CSforGood – Change the World.
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is proud to be a national leader and model for computer science in schools, with courses, curriculum and activities at every level and school. During Computer Science Education Week, Hour of Code activities take place at all District schools, with students participating in both “plugged” activities, which are done on computers, and “unplugged” activities, which use a variety of noncomputer-based resources to help teach students about computer coding.
As part of Computer Science Education Week and Hour of Code activities, BCPS Superintendent Robert W. Runcie will “code” with students on Monday, December 9, at Nova High School, located at 3600 College Avenue, Davie, Florida 33314. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. Media are invited to cover this event.
