The Career, Technical, Adult & Community Education (CTACE) technology program at Walter C. Young Middle School is proud to introduce the “KnextGen Knights.” The KnextGen Knights program offers students with an interest in technology an opportunity to take the Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Essentials sequence which prepares students for all high school careers, technical and information technology (IT) coursework and academies.
The purpose of the KnextGen Knights ICT courses is to provide students with the computer, digital, and information technology skills necessary for success in their future academic and occupational goals. In addition to fundamental computer information, the content includes, but is not limited to, web development, multimedia, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet protocols and cybersecurity. Students will also gain hands-on experience with programming languages, including HTML, CSS, Python and JavaScript.
Our KnextGen Knights students will all be eligible to receive Digital Tool industry certifications. These certificates give students an advantage with future coursework. Receiving this first-place ranking is part of the postsecondary Florida CTACE Act funding list, under the FLDOE. The Florida CTACE Act was created to provide a statewide planning partnership between business and education communities, to expand and retain high-value industry, and sustain a vibrant state economy. Based on current industry standards, these exams and certifications are universally recognized throughout the United States marketplace.
