Applied Learning or Fine Arts strives to provide students with opportunities in engaging activities that will generate interest, spark passion, increase application of skills and knowledge, and facilitate communities that cultivate productive, civically-minded members of society. Applied Learning for elementary students focuses on six areas: Civic Engagement, Music & Performing Arts, Physical Education, STEM & Computer Science, and Visual Arts.

Specials refer to specific classes that students attend in addition to their core academic subjects to enhance student learning and experiences. They cover a variety of subjects beyond the classroom setting and provide students with a chance to explore different interests and skills. Manatee Bay offers five specials that rotate every three days.
S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math)
Teacher: Mrs. Fijalkowski
This class integrates these subjects through a hands-on approach. Encouraging creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking. Students learn to analyze information, identify patterns, and develop solutions. Students will work individually and collaboratively on a variety of projects. Students can try out to compete in District VEX Robotic competitions.
P.E. (Physical Education)
Teacher: Coach Rodriguez
PE classes focus on physical fitness, sports, and overall health. Students engage in various physical activities and games to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Science
Teacher: Mrs. Tinsley
This class is designed to introduce and enrich students with fundamental scientific concepts through hands-on activities, experiments, and age-appropriate lessons. A few of the concepts include animal classification, human body, and space. The primary goal is to spark curiosity, develop critical thinking skills, and lay the foundation for a lifelong interest in science.
Media Center
Teacher: Mrs. Ruiz
This class provides age-appropriate reading materials and other multimedia resources that the students can use in class or “check out”. The Media Center is an organized, welcoming space to encourage reading, research, and exploration.
Music Teacher:
Teacher: Mr. Henschel
This class covers various aspects of music education which includes learning to play instruments, understanding musical theory, and exploring different genres of music. Mr. Henschel offers an optional chorus program and instrumental ensemble that performs twice a year.
