BCPS to Demonstrate Enhanced Security with New Metal Detectors

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn; Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness Staff; School and District Staff
WHAT:
BCPS will host a demonstration of new metal detector security measures being implemented at high schools for the 2024/25 school year. The demonstration will showcase the effectiveness of the technology and its role in enhancing student safety.

WHY: To explain to families what students should expect regarding metal detectors on the first day of school, Superintendent Hepburn and staff will discuss use of the metal detectors, outline the screening process, and demonstrate how students can efficiently prepare their belongings. The demonstration will include examples of items that typically trigger the metal detector and how students should proceed through the screening area.
