WELCOME FROM YOUR PASSIONATE PRINCIPAL
Greetings Parents, Guardians and Community Members,
Our learning hats are on for another Magnificent Markham school year! I am excited about working with you. In addition to the quality education that will occur in the classroom, Markham has plans to engage parents and the community through activities, such as School Advisory Council (SAC), School Advisory Forum (SAF) and the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA).
Our theme for this year is: “Caution…Hard Hats Needed! Great Minds Under Construction”
Our focus will be to construct classroom environments where student’s background knowledge and ability to think on a higher level increases through a diversity of experiences, culturally responsive instruction, and personalized learning.
Markham Elementary is fortunate to offer a Technology and Global Communications Magnet program that prepares students to be leaders through exposure to world class 21st century learning opportunities.
In order for our students to succeed, it will take a team effort. We will continue to expand opportunities for parents to get involved in our school through family nights, community events, and parent education classes. Also, remember that we are a mandatory uniform school, and all students are expected to wear tan or black pants/shorts and orange, green or white polo shirts. Our uniform provider is Ella’s, which can be found in the Walmart Plaza on Atlantic and Powerline! I look forward to meeting you at our Open House on Wednesday, September 6th or at an upcoming SAC/SAF/PTA meeting.
