Elementary, middle, and high school students working at their group levels in a club
  • Clubs and organizations are a great way to help develop character and the skills that will benefit you in school, your career, and in life. Skills like commitment, leadership, effective communication, and being able to work successfully in a group all come from participating in a club or organization. Joining a club is a great way to make friends, develop leadership skills, and boost your college resumé.

  • Choir

The Hollywood Park Elementary music program provides music education to students ranging from Pre-K through 5th grade. All the students (including those in the ESE program) receive instruction in vocal and instrumental technique. On a daily basis, the students participate in Orff ensemble activities and receive training as part of the World Music Drumming program.  Participation in the school choir is available to students in second, third, fourth and fifth grades (by audition). The choir meets twice a week, preparing material from the classical, pop and folkloric genres, including compositions in foreign languages such as Bangali, Spanish, Hebrew, and many others. In addition, the music program offers an opportunity for guitar group instruction based on demand and availability.  Students in performing ensembles perform throughout the year in school and community-based activities.

Exposure and experience in music activities prepare students for a successful transition into middle school instrumental music programs and beyond. They have a head start on reading music notation, rhythms, notes, and develop a high level of musicianship.  They learn how to perform and work together as they work in class while acquiring a high level of music concepts.

Previous and current Hollywood Park students have been selected as “All State” young musicians, recognized among the top music students in the state. Others have been members of the prestigious Girls Choir of South Florida, and some have studied music at college level and have pursued careers in the field of music.

  • Safety Patrol

The Hollywood Park Elementary Safety Patrol membership is an opportunity available to  4th grade students moving onto the 5th grade. At the end of each school year, fourth grade teachers have the chance to nominate exemplary students to join the team upon their return to school in the Fall. After a parent signs the Parent/Student Safety Patrol contract, students are given a patrol post.  In the morning, safety patrols have a number of duties which include raising the flag, assisting in the cafeteria and keeping an eye on the students in the hallways to make sure school rules are followed. In the afternoon, patrols work alongside our staff members to assist with dismissal and ensure the hallways are cleared.

  • Student Council

The Student Council of Hollywood Park Elementary School is comprised of one student from each third grade, fourth grade and fifth grade class, including our Special Programs classes.  The students were selected by their peers and were supported with teacher recommendations.  The Student Council of 2024 will work collectively to beautify our school campus through painting motivational sayings throughout the building.  The goal is for each hallway to have at least one motivational quote to inspire students to be the best they can be daily.  This club is scheduled to meet monthly for 2 hours on a Friday afternoon, and more often as necessary to complete the art projects.  The Student Council Sponsor is Racquel House and she can be reached at racquel.house@browardschools.com.

  • TV Production

TV Production is responsible for hosting and broadcasting the school wide morning announcements. Students involved help prepare the rest of the school each morning by providing updates for upcoming events as well as daily lunch, weather, and academic reminders. Students also learn how to handle media equipment such as microphones and cameras. Students moving up from 3rd to 4th grade or from 4th to 5th grade may audition for a part in next year's crew at the end of the school year.

  • Robotics

The Robotics Club at Hollywood Park is comprised of 4th and 5th grade students who engineer and build functional robots using VEX Robotics building pieces. They participate in skills and team matches, in which students form alliances. The driver controls the robot to complete several tasks in order to accomplish the current year's challenge on a 6 x 8 ft field. In addition, students can use coding to program the robot so it drives autonomously and completes the tasks.
