Robin Bartleman Biography
PERSONAL: Resident of Broward County, mother of two daughters, Emma and Sarah. Sarah attends Broward County Public Schools, and Emma is a college student.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Emotionally Handicapped Education; earned a Master of Science from Nova Southeastern University in Emotional Disturbance Education with a Certification in Educational Leadership; achieved and maintains "Certified" School Board Member status from the Florida School Boards Association.
COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL INVOLVEMENT: Robin is the immediate past chair of the Children’s Services Council as well as a current Board member and she serves as the Chair of their Special Needs Advisory Coalition. She is a member of numerous boards and organizations including the Department of Juvenile Justice Judicial 17th Circuit Advisory Board, the Children’s Services Board, and is the vice chair of the Broward County Comprehensive School Health Advisory Committee (BCCSHAC).
Robin is the Broward County School Board representative to the Broward County Public Safety Coordinating Council Advisory Board, the National Affiliate Advocacy Network (NAAN) and the National School Board Association (NSBA). She is an alternate Broward County School Board representative to the Broward County Value Adjustment Board (VAB), the Broward League of Cities, the Council of the Great City Schools, the Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE), Legislative Liaison – Federal and the United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse.
She is a board member of Visions of Images, advisory board member of Cooperative Feeding Program/Lifenet 4 Families, member of the Greater Florida Consortium of School Boards, the Broward League of Cities Education Advisory Committee, member of Mujeres Latinas and a member of the American Association of University Women.
Her other past affiliations and board memberships also include the Broward County School Board Oversight Committee, Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, Inc., Broward County Historical Commission, Regional YMCA Board Member, Young at Art Board Member, the Kiwanis Club, and the Coalition for Exceptional Children.
Robin was recognized by the State League of Women Voters of Florida as a Young Elected to Watch and as the School Counselor Advocate of the Year by the Florida School Counselor Association.
She is a member of the PTA at Falcon Cove Middle and Cypress Bay High School, a mentor with Take Stock in Children, and a former Girls Scout Leader.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND: Former Teacher of Students identified as Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities, North County Elem.; Exceptional Student Education Chairperson, North County Elem.; former Assistant Principal at Poinciana Park Elem., Liberty City, Florida; former City Commissioner for the City of Weston; elected to the School Board of Broward County Seat 9 Countywide, At-Large in 2004; chosen by her colleagues to serve as Chairperson in 2007; and was re-elected to this same position in 2008, 2012 and 2016.
