1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Take the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge with your family! How many books have you read to your child? (Yes, repeats count and are encouraged!) If you read one book to your child each day, that’s 365 books a year, 730 books in two years, and over 1,000 books in three years! Now imagine if you've read 2-3 books per day! Yes, the stories, letters, and words add up along with the number of books. Every book counts!
If you'd like to take the "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten" Challenge, you can sign up through Broward County Library's Beanstack Program and earn digital badges and prizes at your local library.
Kindergarten Transition Booklist

Reading books to children with characters and plots relating to kindergarten transition is a GREAT way to support children as they prepare to make their transition into kindergarten. It also helps them to relate to characters going through the some of their same fears and anxiety, especially when the characters in the story are able to overcome those fears in positive ways. If mice, raccoons, cats, and young children just like them have an awesome first day kindergarten experience, then they can too! There are many amazing books with kindergarten transition themes, including the books on the list below.
