    MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A STUDENT’S LIFE

Our members are making a difference
     in our public schools.
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) has been awarded an AmeriCorps grant through the Florida Commission on Community Service dba Volunteer Florida, from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). This multi-year AmeriCorps grant was awarded to BCPS based upon a proposal to hire AmeriCorps members in evidence-based prevention, interventions and assistance to strengthen communities. Through the grant, BCPS is currently recruiting twenty-one (21) AmeriCorps Recovery Ambassadors positions. The AmeriCorps members will improve the academic success, disciplinary infractions, and absenteeism rates across district schools.

BCPS will utilize the evidence-based Whole School Whole Child model to intervene with select students on an individual basis. AmeriCorps Members will collaborate, plan, and deliver direct services to select students one-on-one during non-instructional time, personalization periods, and afterschool in the areas of academic tutoring, emotional recovery services, wellness mindfulness, equity and family & community engagement at the following assigned seven public schools: Olsen MS, Westglades MS, Boyd Anderson HS, Deerfield Beach HS, Miramar HS, Northeast HS, and South Plantation HS.
