School Improvement Office

Comment Box
  • School Improvement is based on a continuous improvement model using research-based accepted best practices. The School Improvement Office partners with schools through school improvement planning, implementation and monitoring. Our support and technical assistance provides a mechanism for identifying needs and establishing a common approach to meeting those needs that are essential to their success.

  • Accreditation
The Cognia, accreditation system incorporates a performance-based model that has a six-year cycle. The School Improvement Office facilitates the district's accreditation process, which includes a self-evaluation of each school, an organizational evaluation and an independent external review.

    BCPS Customer Surveys
Each year, the School Improvement Office coordinates the BCPS Stakeholder Surveys for parents, students and staff to gather information regarding safety, equity, school support, accountability and wellness support.

    Grants
The School Improvement Office works collaboratively with schools to provide technical assistance, editing, budget support and interventions for grant development and implementation.

    Parent Advisories
The School Improvement Office is the liaison to School Advisory Forums, School Advisory Councils, Region Advisory Councils, District Advisory Council, the Superintendent and School Board.

    School Improvement Plans
The School Improvement Office facilitates the completion, implementation, and monitoring of School Improvement Plans through quarterly, meetings for School Advisory Council chairpersons and administrators. The plan identifies priority goals and strategies for each school.

    Waivers
Florida law requires each district school board to establish a process by which a school can ask for the setting aside of school-district policy, School Board-approved guidelines, or labor contract article for the purpose of school improvement. Waivers may result in permanent policy or contract changes if proven to be effective solutions to identified barriers.
